Telefonica Announces Wide-Spread Trials of LTE Networks

­Telefonica says that it has reached an agreement with six LTE technology providers to launch LTE test projects in six different countries. The suppliers Telefonica has chosen so far: Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, NEC, Nokia Siemens Networks and zte, will start rolling out the equipment necessary for testing the technology during the coming months.  more

ZTE Wins Jamaican WiMAX Deployment Contract

­Digicel Jamaica says that it has awarded a contract to China's zte for a full turn-key solution for phase one of its 2.5GHz Mobile WiMAX network. Under the agreement, zte will install a nationwide network across all 14 Parishes of Jamaica, covering 60% of the population at launch.  more
