Qualcomm Sells Stake in Romanian CDMA Operator

Saudi Oger has brought out its partner in the Romanian CDMA450 operator, Telemobil - which trades under the brandname, zapp. Saudi Oger, a group controlled by the family of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafic Hariri, is already one of Telemobil's shareholders through the investment fund Omnia Holdings, which owns 45.76% in Inquam, Telemobil's majority shareholder. Qualcomm also holds 45.76%.  more

Romanian CDMA network reaches subscriber landmark

Romania's CDMA network, zapp says that it passed the 100,000 subscribers mark at the end of March 2003. The increase of subscribers based on the major investment of US$60 million invested in infrastructure that was enabled to the development of the zapp coverage area. Currently, zapp covers 85% of the urban population of Romania. more
