Zain Kenya Applies for 3G License

Motorola to Manage Zain's Iraqi Network

­Motorola has announced the signing of a multi-million dollar contract with zain Iraq to provide managed services to the operator. The contract commences immediately and will run for three years. Under the managed services contract, Motorola has been entrusted to improve zain Iraq's network performance, operate and maintain it as well as provide training to its technical support team.  more

Sixth Network to Launch in Uganda

­Uganda's sixth mobile network is expecting to launch its network tomorrow (Tuesday) with coverage in 38 towns, reports Bloomberg News. The company, I-Tel has plans to invest US$150 million over the next three years expanding its network.  more

Zain Talking to Three Companies Over African Assets

Kuwait's zain is reported to now be in talks with three international telecom operators over the future of its African assets. Citing Chief Executive Officer Saad al-Barrak, the Al-Rai newspaper also confirmed that one of the unnamed companies included one from India.  more
