The case for network sharing gets stronger

With a mature market, declining voice revenues and now the economic
downturn, the argument for European mobile network operators (MNOs) to share
their networks has never been stronger. Although there have been several
network-sharing initiatives, what is needed is a more coherent commercial and
regulatory framework across the EU to make network sharing the norm rather than
the exception.

TeliaSonera Launches Spanish 3G Network
TeliaSonera's Spanish mobile operator, yoigo, launches its low cost 3G network today. The initial commercial offer includes the same prices for both post and prepaid customers. yoigo will launch mobile operations based on its own 3G network combined with national 2G roaming. The approach will be a benchmark low cost operation with a sharp business focus on targeting mass-market customers. more
