Emerging Markets Cautious About Telecoms CAPEX for 2009
Debt ratings agency, Fitch Ratings said today that the challenging macro-economic outlook is driving emerging market telecoms to adopt a more cautious stance on capital spending for 2009. Indonesia's XL Cancels Towers Sale
Indonesian operator, PT Excelcomindo Pratama (xl) has cancelled plans to sell its portfolio of 7,000 towers and will use tap its shareholders in a rights issue to raise funds for its network expansion. The company said in a filing with the local stock exchange that the interested bidders were not willing to pay an acceptable price for the towers. more

Indonesia's XL Cuts its Subscriber Forecasts
Indonesia's PT Excelcomindo Pratama (xl) has warned that it may miss its subscriber target for this year due to the ongoing economic downturn. The company had a subscriber target of 27-28 million customers, but has lowered expectations to 25-27 million. more
