Malaysia's DiGi Offers Free Windows Live Service to Subscribers
Malaysian mobile network operator, DiGi and Microsoft have started offering Windows Live Messenger (IM) to DiGi subscribers with a free two-month trial. Subscribers can access the service via mobile phones apart from desktop PCs, smartphones and PDAs. more

Western European Mobile Phone Market now in Recession
Three consecutive quarters of negative growth have led the Western European mobile phone market into recession. According to IDC's European Mobile Phone Tracker, vendors shipped 53.6 million units in 4Q08, 13.5% lower than the 62 million units shipped in 4Q07. For the full year 2008, vendors shipped 190.5 million units in Western Europe, 5.9% lower than the 202.5 million units shipped in 2007. more

Gemalto to Embed Windows Live Messenger in SIM Cards
Microsoft and smart-card vendor, Gemalto have announced they are collaborating to offer Windows Live Messenger services to the mass market of mobile subscribers through a new Windows Live Messenger client application that comes pre-installed on phone Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards. The Gemalto application, named SIMessenger, is the world's first Microsoft-certified instant messaging SIM client solution. more

Turkcell Offers Windows Live Instant Messenger Service
NeuStar has partnered with Turkey's Turkcell to launch the Windows Live Messenger mobile instant messaging (IM) service to Turkcell's 35.1 million mobile subscribers.
