Dell Reported to be in Talks for Chinese Smartphones

Dell Computers, which has been rumoured to be entering the smartphone market for several years, is now hotly rumoured to be in talks with China Mobile to launch its first range of handsets in the country. Study Finds Disconnect Between Smartphone Adoption and Ability to Manage Mobile Devices

The mobile device automation vendor, Zenprise has published the findings of an Osterman Research study which found that most enterprise IT departments are not equipped to handle the rapid increase in smartphone adoption. Of those surveyed, only two in five expressed confidence that all elements of their mobile messaging platform are fully protected against downtime.  more

ZTE Aims to be a Top-5 Phone Manufacturer This Year

China's ZTE is close to breaking into the top-5 of global handset manufacturers after it saw handset shipments jump by 40% in 2008 to reach 45 million units, according to the Taiwan based DigiTimes publication. The company had set itself a target of gaining a top-5 placement by 2011, but did accept that shrinking market share in competitors could bring that date forward.  more
