ZTE Wins Malaysian WiMAX Deployment Contract

Malaysian wimax network operator, Packet One Networks (P1) has awarded a full turnkey contract for its Phase III network expansion to China's ZTE. The contract worth US$76 million will see ZTE deploy P1 W1MAX network including network planning and design, equipment supply, engineering services and wimax network optimisation to cover 65% of the Malaysian population by 2012.  more

Europe to Reserve 800Mhz Bands for LTE and WiMAX Networks

Malaysian WiMAX Operators Fined for Missing Coverage Requirements

Malaysia's telecoms regulator has fined three of the country's four wimax license holders for missing their network rollout targets. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is reported to have issued the fines last week, reported The Star newspaper. All three operators are appealing their fines.  more

Packet One Gets Permission to Expand WiMAX Coverage

Malaysian wimax network operator, Packet One (P1) says that it has received the necessary approvals to also roll out its wimax service in East Malaysia. The permission was granted after the operator met its regulatory requirment of 25% population coverage within the Peninsula.  more

Proxim Wireless Secures Japanese Investment in WiMAX Software

wimax vendor, Proxim Wireless says that it has secured an investment from Japan's SRA Holdings, a developer of wireless software solutions. SRA Holdings will be investing US$5 million into Proxim Wireless, with a further US$2.5 million from its existing investors.  more

Clearwire Reduces Loss - Misses Revenue Expectations

US wimax operator, Clearwire has announced second-quarter loss of US$73.4 million - down slightly on the US$74.6 million a year ago. Revenues rose from US$58.6 million to US$63.6 million, but disappointed investors who had expected a better performance.  more
