Yota reaches operational breakeven point

Russian wimax operator, Yota has announced that it has reached the operational breakeven point. ­This benchmark has been reached by Yota in less than 5 month after the start of the commercial operation of Mobile wimax network in Moscow and St Petersburg. Alvarion Profits Down 21% on Slower WiMAX Sales

­wimax equipement manufacturer, Alvarion has reported a 21% drop in its revenues for the 3rd-quarter to $58.4 million, compared to $74.3 million in 2008. This was also a 0.6% drop on the revenues recorded in the second quarter of 2009.  more

WiMAX operator, Augere Sells Stake to Private Equity Group

­Harbinger Capital Partners has taken a 25% stake in wimax network operator, Augere for US$50 million. Augere currently has access to wireless spectrum in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Uganda. Licenses are also being actively pursued in countries across Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia.  more

Packet One Gets Permission to Expand WiMAX Coverage

­Malaysian wimax network operator, Packet One (P1) says that it has received the necessary approvals to also roll out its wimax service in East Malaysia. The permission was granted after the operator met its regulatory requirment of 25% population coverage within the Peninsula.  more

Freedom4 Granted Permission to Launch WiMAX Network in the UK
