Despite the Naysayers WiMAX Subscriber Revenue Will Boom in 2009

Alvarion Wins Costa Rican WiMAX Contract

Alvarion  has been awarded a $6 million contract by ICE (Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad), Costa RicaĆ's incumbent telco. Under the terms of the agreement Alvarion will implement a turnkey project to provide advanced broadband services, deploying its 4Motion solution with its WiMAX Forum Certified BreezeMAX 2500 platform.  more

Indian WiMAX market to be worth $13 billion by 2012

The WiMAX Forum has issued a report which projects the Indian WiMAX market including devices will be worth $13 billion in 2012. The WiMAX Forum forecasts that by 2012 the Indian market will support 27.5 million WiMAX users representing approximately 20% of the global WiMAX user base.  more

Nortel Wins Moscow WiMAX Contract

Russia's Comstar-United TeleSystems has chosen Nortel as the supplier for its WiMAX network in Moscow. The market for WiMAX in Russia is growing quickly with companies like Comstar leveraging its speed, capacity, and cost-effectiveness to expand their businesses and address the demand for wireless broadband. Rethink Research Associates estimates that the number of WiMAX subscribers in Russia will grow to 1.7 million in 2010 and 4.3 million 2012.  more

WiMAX Forum Supports Decision on Harmonization of 2.6 GHz Bands

The WiMAX Forum has commended the European Commission on the completion and publication of an important new regulation relating to the 2.6 GHz (2500-2690MHz) frequency band. The 2.3, 2.6 and 3.5 GHz frequencies are key bands for Mobile WiMAX technology.  more
