The new Dubai metro railway has been fitted out with wi-fi coverage by local telecoms operator, Du, in partnership with UK-based Nomad Digital. Japan's NTT Communications has announced plans to offer wi-fi service in the country's iconic Bullet Trains between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka - as they travel at speeds exceeding 270km per hour. Arriva Deploys Free Wi-Fi on Danish Trains
Arriva Scandinavia, a railway operator in Denmark has deployed in-carriage wi-fi services which rely on a HSDPA based backhaul connection. Arriva has equipped an initial twenty-nine trains serving commuters traveling between Aarhus, Thisted and Tønder in Jutland, and will provide free wi-fi hotspot services to passengers. more

Beijing Metro Upgrading its Underground Cellular Coverage
Beijing's commuter railway network plans to clear all blind spots for mobile telecommunication ahead of the Olympics in August. The Beijing Subway currently operate eight lines, and the oldest two have many blind spots for mobile phones and WiFi connections, the Beijing Daily reported. Passengers on those lines complain about frequent dropped calls or poor signal reception. more
