AT&T Sees Surge in Wi-Fi Connections

AT&T has reported dramatic growth in the number of wi-fi users and connections. The US firm reported wi-fi connections totaled 10.5 million in the first quarter of 2009 - more than triple the 3.4 million connections in the first quarter of 2008, and more than half AT&T's 20 million total wi-fi connections for all of 2008.  more

Telefonica and Boingo Sign Deal for Global Wi-Fi Access

wi-fi roaming service provider, Boingo Wireless has inked a deal to add Telefonica to its growing Boingo Roaming Network, giving Boingo members access to nearly 2,600 incremental hotspots. Business Use of Wi-Fi Hotspots Increases by 46%

iPass has published the latest edition of its Mobile Broadband Index, which tracks the wireless use patterns of mobile workers around the world. The report shows worldwide business use of iPass wi-fi hotspots increased by 46% from the first half of 2007 to the first half of 2008 and that users of 2.5G and 3G mobile broadband technologies in the US increased their data traffic in the second quarter of the year by 59% between 2007 and 2008.  more
