America's small businesses are increasingly reliant on mobile applications, Facebook pages for their companies, and employees working remotely via wireless technologies, according to an AT&T survey. Specifically, nearly three-fourths (72%) indicate they use mobile apps in their business, with roughly four in ten (38%) reporting they could not survive - or it would be a major challenge to survive - without mobile apps. more

City-wide Wi-Fi network for Chongqing in South-Western China
Ruckus Wireless has announced that Chongqing Telecom, a unit of China Telecom, has selected its Smart Wi-Fi products and technology for a large-scale, citywide deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the city. Chongqing Telecom has now deployed over 4,000 Ruckus ZoneFlex indoor and outdoor Smart Wi-Fi access points (APs) along with ZoneDirector WLAN controllers across the city. more

UK based British Telecom (BT) has announced that it is now operating in excess of two million Wi-Fi hotspots in the UK. Charing Cross Tube station on the London Underground is the latest addition to BT's wireless broadband network. Commuters can now connect to the web in the ticket hall area and Northern and Bakerloo line platforms at the station as part of a 6 month trial from London Underground and BT. more
