ZTE Deploying a 3G Network in East Timor
China's ZTE is working with Timor-Leste (East Timor) based mobile network, Timor Telecom to deploy a wcdma based network. Citing a statement from the Chinese embassy, MacauHub reported that the contract was actually signed last May and the network deployment should be completed next August. more

ZTE Wins 3G Contracts in Mongolia and Nepal
China's ZTE says that it has recently signed two wcdma contracts with mobile operators in Asia, Skytel of Mongolia and Spice Nepal Private of Nepal. The contract with Mongolia's Skytel involves an overlay of a wcdma network on the existing CDMA service, which ZTE says is the world's first to realize UMTS/CDMA convergence at the core network level. more
