ZTE Deploying a 3G Network in East Timor

China's ZTE is working with Timor-Leste (East Timor) based mobile network, Timor Telecom to deploy a wcdma based network. Citing a statement from the Chinese embassy, MacauHub reported that the contract was actually signed last May and the network deployment should be completed next August.  more

Huawei and ZTE cause major shakeup in mobile infrastructure market

ZTE Wins 3G Contracts in Mongolia and Nepal

China's ZTE says that it has recently signed two wcdma contracts with mobile operators in Asia, Skytel of Mongolia and Spice Nepal Private of Nepal. The contract with Mongolia's Skytel involves an overlay of a wcdma network on the existing CDMA service, which ZTE says is the world's first to realize UMTS/CDMA convergence at the core network level.  more

ZTE First-Quarter Profits Up by 29%

China's ZTE has reported that its first-quarter revenues reached RMB 11.67 billion (US$1.71 billion), representing an increase of 35% compared with the same period last year. Net profit was RMB 78.66 million (US$11.54 million), representing an increase of 29.17% compared with the same period last year.  more

ZTE Aims to be a Top-5 Phone Manufacturer This Year

China's ZTE is close to breaking into the top-5 of global handset manufacturers after it saw handset shipments jump by 40% in 2008 to reach 45 million units, according to the Taiwan based DigiTimes publication. The company had set itself a target of gaining a top-5 placement by 2011, but did accept that shrinking market share in competitors could bring that date forward.  more

ZTE Secures $15 Billion Financing Deal as Profits Jump by a Third

China's ZTE Corp. has reported that its full year net profit jumped by 32.5 percent to reach US$239 million and revenue rose by 27.4% to US$6.4 billion. At the same time, the China Development Bank has agreed to advance a US$15 billion credit line to cover ZTE's overseas project financing and credit limits.  more

3G-4G to Account for 30% of Global Wireless Subscriptions by 2013

At the end of 2008, only 11% of worldwide wireless subscriptions were 3G. By the end of 2013, the percentage of 3G and 4G subscriptions will reach 30%, reports In-Stat. This trend is reflected in fourth quarter 2008 wireless infrastructure contract awards.  more

ZTE, Other 3G Device Providers Play Active Role in Deploying 3G Networks in China

CCID, a research firm in China disclosed recently in an industry report which predicted that the rapid deployment of 3G networks in China will eventually result in the creation of about 660,000 3G subscriber lines by Q3 this year.
