Ericsson Wins 3-Year HSPA Contract in Hong Kong

Ericsson has been selected by Hong Kong's SmarTone-Vodafone as the sole supplier for a three year network expansion contract. Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will be the sole supplier of a HSPA-enabled radio access network, including Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS), a functionality that enables mobile-TV services to be broadcast. The deal also includes a fully IP-based core network, including IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), Ericsson's Mobile Softswitch Solution, and Redback's SmartEdge routers. more

Ericsson Deploying Energy Saving Mobile Softswitch in Australia

Ericsson says that it is assisting Australia's Telstra to simplify its mobile network by deploying the world's first Mobile Softswitch Solution based on blade technology. It will also reduce the energy use of the softswitch by up to 60 percent per subscriber. more

Nokia Siemens Wins Indonesian GSM Expansion Contract

Nokia Siemens Networks has signed a contract with Hutchison Telecom Indonesia (HCPT) to strengthen HCPT's GSM/wcdma network coverage in the islands of Java and Sumatra, and roll out GSM core networks in Kalimantan and Sulawesi. This contract supplements HCPT's first network contract with Siemens Indonesia in 2005. more

Ericsson Completes Greek Network Upgrade

Ericsson says that it has successfully upgraded and expanded the GSM/wcdma core network for Greek telecom operator WIND Hellas. The sole supplier contract included the swap to Ericsson's wcdma/GSM common core network solution. more
