Turkcell Secures Export Financing for Ericsson 3G Kit Purchase
Turkish mobile network operator, Turkcell has announced the signing of a US$285 million loan agreement to buy 3G network infrastructure from Ericsson. The Board of Directors said that they have authorised up to US$750 million of export financing for network expenditure. more

Mongolia Gets HSPA Network Upgrade
Mongolian operator MobiCom has launched a HSPA upgrade, with the network supplied by Ericsson. The launch enables MobiCom to introduce mobile broadband services to its subscribers across Mongolia, starting in the capital Ulaanbaatar where about 40 percent of the country's 3 million inhabitants live. more

Ericsson Wins 4-Year 3G Upgrade Contract in Turkey
Turkish operator Avea has signed a four year contract with Ericsson for a wcdma/HSPA upgrade. Under the agreement, Ericsson will be one of the main suppliers and will integrate and deploy wcdma/HSPA radio access and packet core networks, as well as a complete mobile-backhaul solution based on microwave transmission and optical transport. more

ZTE Aims to be a Top-5 Phone Manufacturer This Year
China's ZTE is close to breaking into the top-5 of global handset manufacturers after it saw handset shipments jump by 40% in 2008 to reach 45 million units, according to the Taiwan based DigiTimes publication. The company had set itself a target of gaining a top-5 placement by 2011, but did accept that shrinking market share in competitors could bring that date forward. more

Ericsson Wins Chinese 3G Network Contract
Ericsson says that it has been selected by China Unicom to supply wcdma networks and services for 15 Chinese provinces. Ericsson, along with its partners, was awarded contracts to supply wcdma core and/or radio access network systems in 15 provinces, including Beijing, Jilin, Jiangsu, Hubei, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Anhui, Henan, Hainan, Shanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Shandong, Guangdong and Hunan. more

Ericsson to build 3G network for Turkcell
Ericsson has signed a contract with Turkey's dominant mobile network, Turkcell, as the main supplier to build a complete wcdma/HSPA network and a range of related services. 3G network preparations started in February, and previous comments from the company suggest that it is looking at a partial launch in June. more
