SingTel Earnings Hit by Currency Changes - Seeking Aquisitions in 2009

Fitch Affirms Singtel's & Optus' Debt Ratings

Debt ratings agency, Fitch has affirmed Singapore's SingTel and its Australian subsidiary, Optus' Long-term foreign currency Issuer Default Ratings (IDR) at 'A'. The Outlook remains Stable. At the same time, Fitch has affirmed SingTel's and Optus' outstanding senior unsecured bonds at 'A'.  more

Pakistani Operator Gets Funding for Network Expansion

Pakistani mobile network operator, Warid Telecom says that it has had an injection of US$250 million in equity by its two joint shareholders, Singtel and the Abu Dhabi Group. The company said that the funds will be used to expand the network coverage.  more

Singtel Reports 2nd consecutive quarter of double-digit revenue growth

Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) has reported a 3.3% rise in second quarter profits to S$988 million (US$686 million), compared with S$956 million in the same period a year ago. Analyst expectations had ranged between S$899 million to S$960 million. Second-quarter revenue grew 11 percent to S$3.7 billion (US$2.55 billion) from S$3.33 billion a year ago.  more

SingTel's regional subscriber base up 57% to cross 150-million mark

Singapore based SingTel has announced that the aggregate number of mobile subscribers in the region, including its associates, has reached 157.97 million as at 30 September 2007. On a year-on-year basis, its mobile subscriber base in the eight markets - Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand - grew strongly by 57 per cent from about 100.77 million customers. Warid Telecom, its latest investment in Pakistan, contributed 11.87 million subscribers.  more

PTA Pakistan June 2007 Customer Numbers

In the first quarter of 2007 Telenor trumped all of its competitors to lead the net additions race in Pakistan's fast-growing mobile market. However, in the second quarter, Telenor slipped into fourth place behind all of its major competitors despite the fact that it had the third best quarter in its nine quarter history. Pakistan Telecom's Ufone emerged as the front runner in Q2 2007 with 2.4m net additions to its base taking the total to 14m. It was followed by market leader Mobilink with 1.8m, new Singtel associate Warid Telecom with 1.7m and then Telenor with 1.6m. In total a record 7.6m new customers were added in Pakistan in the quarter, taking the total count to over 63m and the penetration rate to 37%. In the process both Telenor and Warid exceeded the 10m customer mark, finishing the period with 10.70m and 10.62m customers, respectively. more
