Zain Invests in Moroccan Mobile Operator
Kuwait based Zain has announced plans to take an equity stake equivalent to 15.5% in Moroccan mobile network operator, wana. Under the terms of the investment, Zain is setting up a 50:50 joint venture with the Al Ajial Investment Fund Holding, and it is that joint-venture which will take a 31% stake in the firm for US$324 million. more

Alcatel-Lucent Wins Moroccan Microwave Contract
Alcatel-Lucent has signed a two-year frame-agreement, valued at EUR24 million (US$37 million), with wana, an operator of fixed and mobile services in Morocco and a subsidiary of ONA group, to extend and upgrade its telecommunication network in Morocco. more

Moroccan Operator Orders CDMA and WiMAX Backhaul Platform
Moroccan telecommunications operator wana has awarded Cambridge Broadband Networks a significant contract for the provision of its VectaStar transmission platform. wana is using VectaStar to backhaul multiple services including corporate access and CDMA cellular traffic with WiMAX set to follow later in 2008. The network will operate on two frequency bands, 3.5 and 10.5 GHz, simultaneously. more
