Private Equity Considering Buyout of Indian Operator

The private equity firms Blackstone and Texas Pacific are reported to be interested in a US$8 billion buyout of Hutchison Telecoms stake in its Indian subsidiary, Hutch Essar, the Wall Street Journal reported last week. The newpaper report said, quoting unnamed sources, that Reliance Communications was likely to throw its weight behind Blackstone's effort. more
