China Mobile Seeking Cut-Down Version of Apple's iPhone

China Mobile is expected to officially launch the Apple iPhone on its network shortly - but with some of the functionality removed to comply with Chinese regulations. China Mobile Planning Nationwide Expansion of 3G Trial Network

China Mobile's parent company, China Mobile Communications Corp (CMCC) has reportedly been given to expand its trial 3G network to a nationwide basis. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has "approved a plan by CMCC to expand its current TD-SCDMA commercial trial network (in select cities) to a nationwide basis", a ministry spokesman told China Daily.  more

Dual 14-Bit Converter for 3G and WiMAX Base Stations

Analog Devices has launched what it says is the first dual 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to achieve sampling rates of 150 mega samples per second (MSPS). Supporting all 3G base station wireless standards, including w-cdma, CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA, the AD9640 is the only dual 14-bit ADC that samples at rates beyond 135 MSPS, a common requirement for the emerging WiMAX standard. more

Tektronix says that it has added the Chinese 3G standard, TD-SCDMA as an option to its NetTek Wireless RF Field Tester. Tektronix is the first manufacturer to provide TD-SCDMA RF field test and measurement capabilities for diagnosing TD-SCDMA Node B transmitter problems. more
