Vodafone Revenues Rise - Plans Strategy Review
vodafone has reported revenues increased by 4.8% to £11.3 billion (US$17.2 billion) and Group service revenue increased by 4.9% to £10.6 billion (US$16.2 billion). On an organic basis, service revenue increased by 1.1% - an improvement of 1.7 percentage points on the previous quarter - as each of the regions delivered improved service revenue trends.. The company doesn't issue a profit figure for the quarter. more

Regulation of New Zealand's Mobile Termination Rates Now Likely
New Zealand's Commerce Commission has issued a preliminary report that is recommending that the country's two incumbent mobile networks, Telecom and vodafone should have their mobile termination rates regulated. Vodafone Revenues Up Last Quarter - Raises Outlook
vodafone has reported that its revenues for the fourth quarter 2009 (3rd fiscal) increased by 10.% to £11.5 billion (US$18.37 billion). The company also expects that adjusted operating profit for 2010 will be in the upper end of its forecast range and lifted its free cash flow range by £500 million ($800 million) after it said its cost cutting programme was on track. more

Vodafone Net Profits Drops on Impairment Charges
vodafone has reported a 15.6% rise in full year revenues to reach £41.02 billion (US$62.47 billion), although profits dropped to £3.08 billion (US$4.7 billion) from £6.76 billion (US$10.3 billion) a year ago, largely due to a write down of the Spanish and Turkish networks. Ignoring the impairment charges, the groups adjusted operating profit was up 16.7% to £11.8 billion. Group EBITDA up 10.0% to £14.5 billion. more

Telecom Italia Mobile Lost 1.5 Million Customers in 2008
The Italian market lost a total of 135k customers over the year, with net losses in Q2 and Q4 trumping the smaller net gains in the other two periods. The year closed with a total base of 88.58m, compared to 88.72m, while penetration dropped from 152.6% to 152.4%. more

New Zealand Regulator Wants Lower Mobile Termination Rates
New Zealand's Commerce Commission has sent letters to the country's three mobile phone networks warning that it wants a reduction in their mobile termination rates. The three networks had sent submissions to the Commission to lower their rates voluntarily, but the Commission has replied saying that the cuts don't go far enough. more

European Commission Welcoms Romania's Lower Termination Rates
The European Commission says that it has welcomed the Romanian telecoms regulator's move to bring its regulation of mobile termination rates in line with the forthcoming Commission Recommendation. In the meantime, the Commission also called on the regulator to align the mobile termination rates charged by the third and fourth mobile operators in Romania with those allowed for the two largest operators. A letter from The Commission acknowledged the reasonably low level of rates for the two largest operators (5.03 eurocents per minute) and said that in the absence of objective cost differences, this interim rate should also be applied to the other operators as soon as possible. more
