Vodafone Cuts HQ Jobs - Recruits More Retail Staff

Vodafone UK has announced a shake up of its personnel - in a move the company says is designed to invest in data sales and customer care. The company says that it is planning to recruit a  further 330 retail advisors into its stores and a further 130 sales staff in its enterprise business.  more

Orange and Vodafone Update on Radio Network Sharing Plans

UK operators, Orange and Vodafone have outlined the next steps in their plans to share their network infrastructure. Vodafone UK moves to the top spot in off-portal sales

Looking back over 2007, UK based mobile billing provider, Bango reports strong commercial gains for UK operators that moved to open up the mobile web, with Vodafone UK rising to first place in the value of off-portal content sales. Measured across its total base of content providers, Bango saw traffic grow fastest on networks where steps were taken to encourage more browsing off-portal and payout rates increased to content providers.  more

Expanding Wi-Fi Coverage on Public Transport

Moovera Networks and the UK bus/coach operator, National Express have expanded their on-board Wi-Fi Internet services to additional routes following the success of earlier deployments between London and Cambridge. The latest route to be upgraded for Wi-Fi access is the popular commuter service between the city of Milton Keynes and the heart of London's business district in Canary Wharf.  more

Bharti Airtel Q2 07/08 Results to 30th September 2007

With 48.9 million customers at the end of September 2007, Bharti Airtel is the largest mobile operator in India, the third largest in Asia Pacific and the seventh largest in the world after overtaking both Telcel of Mexico and DoCoMo of Japan in the third quarter. With a fourth quarter as strong as the third the company should move into sixth place in the global rankings by the end of the year, ahead of the struggling SprintNextel, and perhaps even into the fifth place currently held by Mobile Tele-Systems - although for this to occur the Russian company would have to suffer an extraordinarily disappointing final quarter. The chart shows Bharti's progress over the last five years; we exclude the two Chinese operators for the sake of making the scale explanatory.  more
