Free Facebook for Vodafone UK Customers

Vodafone UK says that it is to make mobile internet access to the Facebook website free of charge from the end of this week for a single week. Giving customers free access to Facebook is part of Vodafone UK's Free Friday series, which launched with Free Mobile Internet in May to mark the start of a flat daily rate of just 50p to browse the mobile internet, and continued with Free Music Friday in June when Vodafone became the first mobile operator in the UK to launch DRM free music.  more

Carphone Warehouse to Resume Sales of Vodafone Contract Phones

The UK mobile phone retailer, Carphone Warehouse (CPW) has agreed a deal with Vodafone UK to start offering the network operator's contract (postpaid) tariffs to its customers again. Vodafone Reported to be Considering Bid for T-Mobile UK

Mor­e rumours about the future of T-Mobile UK emerged today in The Times newspaper with a report that Vodafone is considering making an offer to buy the company. T-Mobile and Vodafone declined to comment last night. However, one source close to the situation told The Times that Vodafone was examining its options.  more

Vodafone UK Backtracks on Staff Bonuses

Angry Vodafone staff are reported to have forced a management climb down over the cancelled annual bonuses - which will now be reinstated. In March, the company announced that its UK staff salaries would be frozen this year, and that bonuses would be cancelled. However, while hit by write-downs, Vodafone still managed to report a significant profit of £4.1 billion.  more

Mobile Workers Consider Company Laptops Their Own Property

A study commissioned by Vodafone UK has revealed that people view their work mobiles and laptops differently when out of the office, potentially exposing a business to security threats. Personal use of laptops and mobile devices goes unregulated once out of the office and can lead to a change in behaviour from the employee, following research sampling more than 1,000 business people.  more

Orange and Vodafone Outsource their UK Network Management

Two of the UK's mobile networks have separately - but on the same day - announced network maintenance outsourcing deals. Orange UK has given a 5-year contract to Nokia Siemens Networks, while Vodafone UK granted a 7-year contract to Ericsson.  more
