Vodafone to Take Over BT Customer Base in Ireland
British Telecom (BT) and Vodafone have signed a cooperation agreement in Ireland, where BT will transfer its consumer and small business broadband and voice customer base to Vodafone, and will also provide wholesale network services to underpin Vodafone's business over a seven-year period. Over 84,000 consumers and 3,000 small businesses currently with BT will transfer to Vodafone over the next several months. more

Ericsson to Expand Charging and IMS Systems for Vodafone Ireland
Vodafone Ireland has selected Ericsson to be the systems integrator of a real-time charging and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution, including upgrading and expanding the operator's network. Under the agreement, Ericsson will be responsible for systems integration of existing solutions into the next-generation IMS environment. Ericsson will also upgrade and expand network capacity, enable real-time charging and underpin demanding multimedia functionality. more

Vodafone Ireland Buys Local Land-Line Provider
Vodafone Ireland has acquired Perlico, a local provider of fixed line voice and broadband services. Perlico currently employs 67 people and has 62,500 customers at present of which 25,000 are broadband subscribers. In the future, Vodafone will offer fixed line and broadband services through its extensive network of retail stores. Perlico will also sell Vodafone 3G broadband, as well as Vodafone pre-paid and post-paid packages, through their existing sales channels. more

Xiam's Targeting and Advertising Solutions Launched in UK and Ireland
The mobile advertising company, Xiam Technologies says that its technology was launched by both Orange UK and Vodafone Ireland during September. Both Mobile Operators have launched services using Xiam's MPOS (My Personal Offers System) software which helps operators bring individually targeted advertising and content to their customers. more

Sky Sports to Simulcast on Mobile TV
The UK satellite TV provider, Sky says that it plans to offer all of its 92 Barclays Premier League matches (soccer tournament) over a Mobile TV service. Sky Sports 1, 2 and 3 will also be available via Sky Mobile TV as simulcast channels. As well as all 92 Premier League matches, Sky Sports' live coverage will a range of additional domestic and international sports. more

Vodafone Group has appointed Charles Butterworth as Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Ireland. Mr Butterworth will succeed Teresa Elder and will take up his position on July 1st, 2007. Research carried out by Amarach Consulting on behalf of Vodafone Ireland shows that demand for services such as Vodafone's new unlimited 3G data tarrif is strong, with 24 percent of people who work outside the office (referred to as mobile workers) already taking advantage of remote access technologies, and 19 percent looking for the right tools to work remotely. more

Vodafone Selects Ireland for Global Data Center Site
Vodafone Ireland's north Dublin-based data centre has been chosen by Vodafone Group as one of three data centres that will service Vodafone Group's worldwide data storage and systems needs. The decision to include the Dublin data centre in the consolidated approach will result in a net investment of nearly US$10 million between 2006 and 2007 and will secure a total of 50 jobs based in Ireland for the Vodafone Group function. more
