Hungarian Mobile Subscriber Base Continues to Shrink
The Hungarian mobile market continued to shrink in May, though at a lesser rate than in April. At the end of the month, the three Hungarian mobile operators had a total of 11.912 million subscribers, which is nearly 79,000 lower than in April. The National Communications Authority (NHH) also noted that in May, the number of subscriptions per 100 people dropped to 118.9 from the 119.6 recorded one month before. more

Vodafone Launches 3G in Hungary
Vodafone Hungary has launched its 3G services in Hungary. The first service from Vodafone will be high speed internet access on the new 3G network with the Vodafone Mobile Connect 3G data card. Attila Vitai, Vodafone Hungary 's CEO said: "Vodafone's 3G plans are - from the very beginning - driven by fulfilling the needs of our customers at the highest possible level. Siemens says that it will be supplying equipment for building the W-CDMA network for mobile operator Vodafone Hungary. Vodafone Hungary has awarded the Siemens Communications Group as sole supplier to deliver and install all necessary W-CDMA radio equipment for the implementation of a 3G mobile network across the country. This includes Hungary's capital Budapest and other major cities. more
