Safaricom Subscriber Base Up - Market Share Down
Kenya's Safaricom has reported that its subscriber base has risen by 11.2 percent during the second half of 2008, although it lost market share to new entrants into the market. Safaricom said it had 13.3 million subscribers and its market share has fallen to 77 percent from 81 percent at the end of September, when it had 12 million customer. more

Telecoms Charity Sends Aid to Pakistani Earthquake Victims
Reacting to the 6.5 earthquake in Pakistan Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF) deployed a team of emergency telecommunications specialist on Friday. TSFÃ's team which includes a volunteer of the Asian Institute of Technology took off from its Asian base in Bangkok and landed in the capital Islamabad to be deployed to the affected Province of Balotchistan as soon as possible. more

Telecoms Charity Sends Aid to Honduras
Following heavy floods provoked by several days of torrential rain in Honduras, UNDAC (the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination) requested Télécoms Sans FrontièresÃ' (TSF) support. A TSF team will take off today from its Americas base in Managua, Nicaragua, a neighboring country situated South of Honduras. more
