Vodafone Ghana Cuts a Further 950 Jobs

Vodafone Ghana is to make around 950 staff redundant before the end of the year, as its ongoing voluntary redundancy programme comes to a conclusion. The staff being made compulsorily redundant will be offered the same terms though - being three months salary for each year served with the company.  more

Vodafone Ghana Adds 800,000 Subscribers in Three Months

Vodafone Ghana has signed up some 800,000 new subscribers since its re-launch in April this year. The company's head of corporate communications, Major Albert Don Chebe (rtd) announced the figures at a press conference last week.  more

Ghanaian Politicians Deny Taking Bribes for Approving Vodafone Deal

Politicians in Ghana have been denying claims that they accepted "incentives" to vote in favour of a deal that resulted in Vodafone buying a 70% stake in the local Ghana Telecom last July. The purchase was controversial at the time and opposed by various pressure groups.  more

Vodafone Rebrands its Ghana Subsidiary

Ghana Telecom has been rebranded as Vodafone Ghana and launched a brand new website. After buying a 70 per cent shareholding in the Ghana Telecommunication Company in August 2008, partnering with the Government of Ghana, Vodafone says that it has made significant investments to improve the performance and to expand the capacity of its networks. Vodafone has also signed a multi-million dollar deal with Huawei Technologies to bring its 3G network services to the Ghanaian market.  more
