Egyptian Mobile Market Growth to Slow in 2009
Growth in the Egyptian mobile telecoms market is expected to slow by a third this year, an analyst with EFG-Hermes has predicted. Marise Ananian, head of telecoms research at EFG-Hermes says that the country will add around 8 million new subscribers during 2009, compared to the 12 million in 2008. more
New Study into Mobile Network Satisfaction in Four Arab Nations
Maktoob Research has published the findings of a recent online study which canvassed the opinions of 4,618 cellular subscribers of various nationalities, aged 18 and above, across four countries with 1,264 respondents from Egypt, 1,163 from Saudi Arabia (KSA), 1,009 from the UAE and 1,182 from Jordan. more

New Egyptian Network Passes Million Subscriber Mark
Etisalat hosted an event in Cairo last week, to celebrate the first 50 days of operations in Egypt. Etisalat Misr announced that it has neared a million customers since its launch. Etisalat won a 15 year, renewable license to provide both GSM and 3G mobile services in Egypt in July 2006. Etisalat owns 66 per cent of its Egyptian subsidiary, with the remainder divided amongst a consortium including Egypt Post with 20%, The National Bank of Egypt with 10%, Nabotha with 1.5% and finally the Commercial International Bank with 1%. more
