Regulatory Changes Could Drive 40 Million Europeans to Ditch their Mobile Phone

A report commissioned by Vodafone claims that some 40 million Europeans would ditch their mobile phone if US-style billing comes to the EU where a mobile phone user has to pay to receive phone calls. EU Voice Call Roaming Price Caps Come into Effect Next Week

At the end of this month, it will become cheaper to make or receive calls while travelling in the European Union (EU) as new regulatory price caps come into effect. These price reductions are the result of the EU Roaming Regulation, proposed by the European Commission in 2006 to curb the roaming charges consumers had to pay for roaming calls (on average €1.15 per minute at the time).  more
