Zain Denies $12 Billion Deal with France's Vivendi

Zain has denied media reports that it has inked a deal to sell its African assets to France's vivendi for US$12 billion - although it confirmed that talks are ongoing with various parties. The company is known to have recruited Swiss bank UBS to carry out a "strategic review" that could lead to a sale of its former Celtel division.  more

Zain Sale Rumours Boosted by UBS Appointment

Saudi Telecom Cuts 3,000 Jobs - Eyes Further Overseas Expansion

Saudi Telecom says that it is seeking to invest in telecoms operators in North Africa, and will cut about 14% of its workforce in its home market. The redundancies will affect around 3,000 staff.  more
