Russian Bailiffs to Sell Telenor's Stake in VimpelCom

Russian bailiffs have passed an order to auction off Telenor's shares in Russian mobile network operator, vimpelcom to cover a disputed US$1.7 billion fine. Responding to the news, Telenor said that it has not received any other information from the Bailiff's office than what has been posted on the Bailiff's home page.  more

Fitch Affirms Telenor's IDR at 'BBB+'; Negative Outlook

Fitch Ratings has today affirmed the Norwegian incumbent telecoms operator Telenor's Long-term Issuer Default Rating (IDR) and senior unsecured rating at 'BBB+' and affirmed the Short-term IDR at 'F2'. The Outlook is Negative.  more

Farimex Launches Attack Against Telenor in Ukraine

According to a statement from Telenor, Farimex, reputed to be attacking Telenor's investments in the Russian mobile operator vimpelcom, is also behind an investigation launched by the Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMC) against Telenor and Kyivstar. Telenor says that it was officially notified of the commenced investigation earlier this month.  more

Moscow Court Delays VimpelCom-Telenor Legal Decision

Moscow's Arbitration Court has announced a delay to its ruling on whether to block the seizure of Telenor's 29.9% stake in Russian telecoms operator, vimpelcom. The hearing is now due on 30th April, and for the first time, the judge has required that vimpelcom send representatives to the court.  more

Telenor Served with $1.7 billion Demand by Norwegian Bailiff

Telenor has said that it has been officially served with a claim to pay US$1.7 billion to Farimex Products following a controversial ruling by a Russian court. The claim was delivered by a Norwegian bailiff from Asker and Bærum District Court. Telenor is given five days to pay the sum voluntarily.  more

Russian Court Refuses to Delay Vimpelcom Shares Seizure

A court in Russia has refused to delay the seizure of the 29.9 percent stake in local telco, vimpelcom that is owned by Norway's Telenor. Earlier this month, a Russian bailiff working with Farimex, an obscure firm with just 0.002 percent stake in vimpelcom had arrested Telenor's shares in vimpelcom by serving an arrest order on the National Registry Company, vimpelcom's Moscow share registrar.  more

Alfa Held in Contempt by US Court - Telenor's VimpelCom Shares Arrested in Russia

Telenor has issued a statement announcing that a US federal court in New York yesterday held four Alfa Group companies in contempt for the second time for their failure to comply with the court's orders confirming the Kyivstar arbitration award. Shortly after the hearing ended, Telenor heard rumours that a Russian bailiff acting on behalf of Farimex Product, had arrested all of Telenor's shares in Russian mobile operator vimpelcom. This was confirmed this morning.  more

Telenor Ordered to Pay $1.7 Billion in Damages by Russian Court

Norway's Telenor has said it will appeal today's decision of the Eighth Arbitrazh Appellate Court in Omsk, Russia - holding Telenor liable for approximately US$1.7 billion in damages. The Omsk court has heard from the start the claim by Farimex Products, an obscure British Virgin Islands company, against Telenor, in which Farimex alleged that Telenor's nominees on the vimpelcom Board delayed vimpelcom's acquisition of Ukrainian mobile operator Ukrainian Radio Systems (URS).  more

Khanty-Mansiysk ruling Against Telenor cancelled by Omsk Court

The Eighth Arbitrazh Appellate Court in Omsk in Siberia has cancelled the US$2.8 billion judgment issued against Telenor last August in Khanty-Mansiysk. The Omsk court said it will reconsider the case from the beginning on 19 February at 10 am.  more

Telenor Ratings Downgraded to Negative Outlook on Indian Financing Woes

Fitch Ratings has revised Norway-based telecommunications provider Telenor's Outlook to Negative from Stable. At the same time the agency has affirmed Telenor's Long-term Issuer Default (IDR) and senior unsecured rating at 'BBB+' and affirmed the Short-term IDR at 'F2'.  more
