Russia's Penetration Over 125% and No Sign of Stopping
The Russian market surpassed 125% penetration during Q3 to finish the quarter on 126.9%, but growth showed no sign of slowing: in fact, the annual growth figure of 14.5% was up 0.7pp compared to the prior twelve-month period. Huawei to Build Nationwide GSM Network in Cambodia
Sotelco, the Cambodian subsidiary of Russia's vimpelcom has signed a contract to build a GSM network in Cambodia with China's Huawei. As part of this new framework agreement, Huawei will deploy a nationwide GSM mobile phone network for Sotelco over the next five years. more

Russia's Altimo Denies Reports of Selling Vimplecom Stake
Russia's Altimo Group has rejected local media reports and denied that it would have to sell part of its stake in Russian mobile operator, Vimplecom in order to meet its banking obligations. Telenor and Alfa Group Nearing a Solution to their Long-Running Disputes
Norway's Telenor and Russia's Alfa Group are reported to be close to agreeing an asset swap which will finally conclude their long running legal and commercial battles. According to The Moscow Times, Alfa will hand over its entire 43.5 percent stake in Ukraine's Kyivstar to Telenor - in exchange for twelve percent of the voting shares in Russian operator, Vimplecom. more
