Taiwan Debates Renewing GSM Licenses in 2012

There is a dispute amongst Taiwan's mobile network operators over the fate of the existing GSM licenses which are due to expire in 2012. Samsung Wins Taiwan WiMAX Contract

Samsung Electronics' Taiwan subsidiary has won a WiMAX supply contract from Vmax Telecom, to supply the firm with base stations, network access gateways and related equipment. The company, a joint venture between Vibo Telecom and Tecom has an operating license covering the North of the country.  more

3G Launch in Taiwan with Motorola Kit

Motorola says that it deployed its commercial UMTS solutions within nine months of contract signing, enabling Taiwan's VIBO Telecom to launch 3G commercial service this week. Motorola provided VIBO with a complete 3G networks solution including Motorola's UMTS system and exclusive 3G handsets. A system upgrade to HSDPA enabled by a simple software download will be carried out at a future time, when VIBO opts for a 3G network enhancement. more

Motorola wins 3G contract in Taiwan
