Verizon and Sprint on Top in Mobile Phone Customer Service Survey

­Verizon and Sprint beat AT&T and T-Mobile in customer service, according to the latest study on phone-based customer service quality conducted by Vocal Laboratories (Vocalabs). In telephone interviews conducted immediately following a customer service call during the three months ending June 30, 2011, 66% of Verizon customers were "Very Satisfied" with the experience, and Sprint garnering 64% "Very Satisfied."  more

Verizon Tops Chicago Cell Phone Performance Tests

­A survey of the cell phone service in Chicago, USA found that thanks to the strong results on Verizon's LTE network, it received the highest combined score of 89.4 out of a possible 100. Sprint (49.5) and AT&T (45.3) had a statistical tie for second place.  more

Mobile Developers Rate AT&T Best in the USA

­When asked to rank the capabilities that carriers offer to developers, those in the USA ranked AT&T better than all competitors in four essential areas. AT&T was ranked best in Mobile Application Distribution by 37% - almost twice as many Sprint, which was rated second in that category. Twenty-six percent chose AT&T as having the best Tool Offerings - almost a quarter more than T-Mobile, the next choice. AT&T also edged out Verizon as the carrier with the best Supported Technologies and the best Market Potential.  more

Both Verizon Wireless and Sprint Working on 3G EVDO Rev B Migration

There appears to be cracks at the top of the Verizon Wireless management over whether its full plans for 4G are guaranteed, according to a report by Telecom Pragmatics. In particular there seems to be growing opposition to a nationwide play. The thinking is that LTE can be done in selected areas, while moving to EVDO Rev B for the other parts of the country.  more

US Operators Sign-Up to Mobile Marketing Agreement

The USA's four largest mobile network operators, Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile USA have all signed up to abide by marketing guidelines from the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA). In addition to the four largest US wireless service providers, there was substantial help in securing this agreement from the major aggregators, brands and content owners. Shareholders Pushing for Sale of US Cellular to Larger Rival

Further consolidation in the USA's telecoms market could be imminent as shareholders are reported to be pressuring U.S. Cellular to seek a buy-out from one of its larger rivals. The company is 81% controlled by Telephone & Data Systems (TDS), which is itself facing pressure from several large shareholders to put itself up for sale.  more

Ericsson Rumoured to have Won $2 Billion Deal from Sprint Nextel

Ericsson is reported to have won a huge US$2 billion service contract from US operator, Sprint Nextel. Citing sources, the business news magazine, Affarsvarlden said the contract is said to be a surprise considering that Ericsson no long supports the CDMA technology used by Sprint Nextel. The complex integration with the Motorola supplied iDEN network can only add to the headaches, although any deal could lead to speculation that Motorola might try to offload their entire iDEN platform to Ericsson.  more
