VeriSign Sells m-Qube for Fraction of the Price it Paid

­verisign has announced that it is to sell its Messaging Business to Syniverse Holdings for cash consideration of US$175 million, subject to working capital adjustments. The business has an annual revenue run-rate of approximately $140 million over the last 12 months, and the transaction is expected to be immediately accretive to Syniverse's cash net income.  more

RealNetworks Loses Arbitration with VeriSign Over SMS Alliance

RealNetworks has announced that it has lost a legal action with verisign over an alliance between the two companies, and that contractual limitations on the financial penalties had been overturned. The alliance referred to verisign Metcalf Intercarrier SMS, an outsourced inter-carrier messaging solution for wireless carriers. Together with RealNetworks, it powers inter-carrier mobile messaging for eight of the top 10 wireless carriers in North America and other major operators throughout the world.  more

VeriSign Continues to Break its Mobile Messaging Records

Mobile messaging volumes continue to shatter records, according to the latest quarterly index of mobile messaging statistics compiled by verisign's Messaging and Mobile Media Division. During the first quarter of 2009, verisign, which delivers 60 percent of the text and mobile message traffic in the U.S. inter-carrier market, recorded a new high of nearly 84 billion messages delivered throughout the quarter.  more

VeriSign Sells Part of European Mobile Messaging Unit

A part of verisign's mobile messaging business in Europe, which was formerly derived in 2006 from the acquisition of Austrian company 3united, is once again, in the ownership of Austrian hands. The new owner is Sinon Invest Holding, and the new name of the company, which specialises in mobile messaging and focuses primarily on the development and delivery of interactive mobile applications, will be mobile messaging solutions (mms).  more

News Corp Pays $200 Million for Remainder of Crazy Frog Firm

verisign says that it has sold its minority holding in the mobile content firm, Jamba to News Corporation for approximately $200 million. News Corporation originally acquired controlling interest in verisignÃ's wholly-owned Jamba subsidiary in 2007 and combined it with the Fox Mobile Entertainment unit.  more

Freedom Wireless says that it has settled a patent infringement suit against verisign on Freedom Wireless' claims that verisign infringed three of Freedom Wireless' patents relating to prepaid wireless systems and on verisign's counterclaims alleging non-infringement, invalidity and unenforceability of those patents.  more
