Ultra-Wideband Prepares Itself for the Mobile Phone Market
According to a new report from IMS Research, uwb is forecast to penetrate this market in low volume in 2007 and rise to a penetration rate of around 20% by 2011. The report reveals that Wireless USB is predicted to be the first PAL to market, taking an early lead while uwb/Bluetooth draft specifications are finalised. UltraWideband Interoperability Testing Sucessful
uwb silicon providers - Alereon, Staccato Communications and Wisair have announced their initial attempts at interoperability were successful. At TDK Test Services, the three companies performed interoperability testing of their pre-production PHY silicon to confirm support for multiple packet types over all the mandatory data rates of the WiMedia specification. The interoperability activities began in February 2005 amongst the companies known to have working silicon at the time, with the exchanging of test vectors to validate both the WiMedia uwb PHY and MAC specifications and to ensure future product interoperability. more
