UTStarcom Wins Chinese CDMA Handset Order

utstarcom has signed a contract to deliver an initial shipment of 250,000 units of its C1160 CDMA1x handset to China Unicom. 3G trials for Beijing

utstarcom says that China's Ministry of Information Industry (MII) has selected it to conduct official field trials of its W-CDMA solution in the capital city of Beijing with China Netcom. Panasonic signs 3G joint venture

utstarcom and Panasonic Mobile have announced the creation of a joint venture company to focus on design, development, and manufacturing of 3G telecommunications system equipment. The joint company, Universal Communications Technology Hangzhou (UCTH), will first focus on providing comprehensive radio access solutions for a wide range of 3G mobile communications systems in China, and later expand into other international markets. more

UTStarcom leverages Motorola for 3G products

utstarcom says that it has selected Motorola network processors for use as packet- forwarding engines in several of its 3G radio access network products. As service providers in China prepare for 3G field trials in 2004, utstarcom will use the Motorola processors and Wireless Network Interface (WNI) software to ramp up volume production of its Wideband Code-Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) solutions. more

Dual network roaming coming to China shortly

Testing has begun on a GSM handset that could be used on the Xiaolingtong limited mobility networks in China., allowing roaming between the two networks.
