US Mobile Subscriber Base Passes 250 Million Landmark
The US cellular operators trade body, the CTIA says that the total estimated wireless subscribership in America officially passed the 250 million mark, reaching an all-time national high. Growth in the subscriber base has more than quadrupled over the past ten years from just over 55 million at year-end 1997 to more than 250 million today - an increase of 352%. more
USA - Slowing Growth Suggests a Need for Further Consolidation
The US mobile market in Q1 2007 continued its slow trudge towards 100% penetration, with the best part of two percentage points added in the quarter, to take the total to 79.6%. In absolute terms, there are now an (estimated) 239m mobile customers in the USA, up from 233m at the end of 2006 and 214m one year earlier. more

Cingular and AT&T Wireless have the worst combined complaint record for 2004, according to records obtained by Consumers Union from the Federal Communications Commission through the Freedom of Information Act. AT&T Wireless also had the worse complaint record for two years running, the data showed. more
