US Wireless Growth Won't Be Stopped by Weak Economy
A Strategy Analytics report is predicting that US cellular subscriber growth will remain strong despite the economic situation, although growth levels will scale back slightly from 2008. US cellular service revenues will also continue to grow, albeit at a slower growth rate of 3.9%, down from 7.5% in 2008. more

USA - Slowing Growth Suggests a Need for Further Consolidation
The US mobile market in Q1 2007 continued its slow trudge towards 100% penetration, with the best part of two percentage points added in the quarter, to take the total to 79.6%. In absolute terms, there are now an (estimated) 239m mobile customers in the USA, up from 233m at the end of 2006 and 214m one year earlier. more

Dobson Into Profit at Last - Further Expansion to Come
Dobson Communications Corporation is another regional US operator, somewhat smaller than US Cellular whose own numbers we also discuss in this issue of the Briefing, but rather better organised in that it has already filed its annual 10K filing for 2006. This shows that year on year the group's operating revenue has risen by 7.8% to $1.27bn, while EBITDA is up 6% at $444m. US Cellular Reports Quarterly Profits Surge US Cellular has reported service revenues of US$738.7 million for the fourth quarter of 2005, up 11 percent, as restated, for the comparable period one year ago. The company recorded operating income of US$71.6 million during the quarter, up 86% compared to the fourth quarter of 2004, as restated.
