Telenor Pakistan becomes the first cellular operator to complete USF project
Telenor Pakistan says that it has become the country's first telco to have completed a Universal Service Fund project. To celebrate the achievement, Telenor Pakistan and the Universal Service Fund jointly inaugurated a Base Station in district Bahawalpur's Cholistan desert last week. This cell site is one of the total 39 sites of USF Bahawalpur project that have been set up for this communication deprived area. more

Safaricom Subscriber Base Up - Market Share Down
Kenya's Safaricom has reported that its subscriber base has risen by 11.2 percent during the second half of 2008, although it lost market share to new entrants into the market. Safaricom said it had 13.3 million subscribers and its market share has fallen to 77 percent from 81 percent at the end of September, when it had 12 million customer. more
