Ericsson and Angola's unitel have signed a contract for network performance consulting and continued expansion of unitel's GSM/WCDMA network over the coming three years. The contract includes a comprehensive network performance partnership agreement, to strengthen unitel's network quality. Uzbekistan Mobile Market - Extraordinary Growth Rate Maintained
Q1 08 represented the tenth successive quarter in which the Uzbek mobile market recorded annual growth in excess of 100%. The latest figure was 117.5%, with annual net additions of 3.9m taking the total number of mobile connections to just under 7.2m at the end of the quarter. Uzbekistan has a population of more than 28m, making it Central AsiaĆ's largest country by population - in fact it has almost twice as many inhabitants as Kazakhstan, the second most populous country - and with penetration at just 25.6% at the end of the quarter, there is enormous potential for further growth here. more
