Nokia Siemens Networks Wins Indian GSM Network Contract
Nokia Siemens Networks says that it has won a contract from India's Unitech Wireless to supply GSM network for the company's operations in six circles that include Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Nokia Siemens Networks will also be responsible for network operation and maintenance as a part of the Managed Services contract with the mobile operator. more

Indian greenfield mobile network operator, Unitech Wireless has contracted with Telcordia for its billing and charging software. Building off its ongoing relationship with IBM, Telcordia built its solution on the IBM BladeCenter and engages IBM to provide local support. The Telcordia solution also uses Telesoft Technologies OKEFORD media platform technology. more

Telenor Q1 Net Profit Drops by 65%
Norway's Telenor Group has reported that its first-quarter profits slumped by 65% to NOK1.62 billion (US$250 million) from NOK 4.57 billion (US$700 million) a year ago. Revenues rose by 6.8% though to reach NOK24.78 billion (US$3.8 billion) according to a statement from the company. However, EBITDA rose to NOK 7.84 billion (US$1.2 billion) before foreign exchange losses. more
