Ericsson Wins Chinese Contracts Worth $1.8 Billion
Ericsson has announced the signing of separate contracts with China Mobile and China unicom which are collectively worth around US$1.8 billion. Under the agreement with China Mobile, Ericsson will provide a radio access network and mobile soft-switching technology. The framework contract is worth US$1 billion and will be implemented during 2010. more

China Unicom Dropping Google from Android Smartphones
China unicom is reported to be pushing Android handset suppliers to offer a range of search options on their handsets, in a move which is being seen as as response to Google's travails in the country. China Unicom Reports 73% Drop in Full-Year Profits
China unicom has reported a 73% drop in its full-year net profit for 2009 after a one-off gain a year ago was stripped out and it was hit by heavy costs from rolling out its 3G network. Even without the one-off gain a year ago, the net profit would have still fallen by 35% on a like for like basis. more
