Rwandan Operator Signs up 120,000 Customers in Three Weeks

APA-Kigali (Rwanda) RwandaÃ's oldest telecommunication operator, Rwandatel, Friday launched the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and 3G network for its mobile telephone, replacing its CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) platform, as it prepares for a cut-throat competition with MTN Rwanda, its main challenger.  more

First 3G Video Call Made in Rwanda

3G Coverage Enabled for Commonwealth Conference in Uganda

Alcatel-Lucent says that it has successfully deployed the first UMTS/HSPA network for Uganda Telecom (UTL) in time for the Summit of Head of States of the Commonwealth which takes place in Uganda. It is one of the first such deployments in the East Africa region. The new part of the network is seamlessly integrated in UTL's existing network.  more
