Thai Operator Starts Testing 3G at 900Mhz
Thai network operator, Total Access Communication (dtac) has announced the start of a trial of a 3G network operating in the 900Mhz spectrum bands. In the initial part of the trial, the trial area will cover Chulalongkorn University, Pantip Plaza and MBK shopping centers, Siam Square, Sam Yan, and Chamchuri Square. Later the coverage area will be expanded to other areas in Bangkok. more

Thailand's TAC Unable to Launch 3G Services until 2009
Thailand's Total Access Communication (TAC) says that it will not be able to launch its 3G network until early next year at the earliest due to regulatory problems. The company had formed a partnership with CAT Telecom to deploy a 3G network on its existing radio spectrum but says that its partner has not yet approved the plan. CAT Telecom is state owned. more
