Bharti Airtel CEO Sells Shares in the Firm
Bharti Airtel's, chief executive Manoj Kohli says that he will remain as joint-CEO and MD of the firm despite selling the bulk of his shareholding in the firm. Mr Kohli unexpectedly sold 123,000 shares through open market transactions in two tranches data from the stock exchange showed, leading to a 5% drop in the share price when the news was made public. He says that he has retained options on 180,000 shares though. more
Bharti Airtel Says On Track to Launch in Sri Lanka by Year End
India's Bharti Airtel says that it expects to launch its network in neighbouring Sri Lanka by the end of this year - subject to sorting out a long running interconnection dispute with the incumbent operators. Bharti Airtel has accused the incumbents of offering it termination rates which are higher than the rates they offer each other. more

Vodafone Debt Ratings Downgraded
The debt ratings service, Moody's has downgraded the ratings of Vodafone Group to Baa1, from A3 following the announcement that Vodafone had completed the acquisition of a controlling 67% interest in Hutchison Essar for a cash consideration of $10.9 billion, and the assumption of net debt of approximately $2 billion. The Prime-2 short-term rating, which was not under review, was affirmed. The outlook is stable. more
