Telus Announces HSPA Upgrade for Alberta

Canada's telus has announced a 2009 capital plan to invest more than CA$700 million (US$570 million) focused primarily on advanced wireless and wireline broadband infrastructure in Alberta. This investment is expected to support more than 2,100 jobs. Since 2000, telus has made more than $18 billion in capital and operating expenditures in the province.  more

Huawei Launches World's First Unified LTE Solution

Huawei has demonstrated the world's first unified frequency-division duplex and time-division duplex (FDD/TDD) long-term evolution (LTE) solution. Huawei says that the new unified FDD/TDD LTE solution enables more efficient utilization of spectrum resources and helps operators deliver mobile broadband networks at a significantly reduced cost.  more

Canadian Operators Switch to WCDMA - Plan LTE Rollout

Canada's two CDMA operators, telus and Bell have confirmed recent rumours and jointly announced plans to build a WCDMA based overlay on their existing networks. The companies also confirmed a long-term migration path to LTE based services.  more
