Svenska UMTS-Nät Orders Multi-Network CDR Platform

Polystar OSIX, a supplier of OSS/BSS solutions, has announced that 3G operator Svenska UMTS-Nƒ¤t, the joint venture between Tele2 and teliasonera has signed a long-term Operation Service Agreement to generate CDRs for Multi Operator Core Network (MOCN).  more

Tele2 Names Replacement CEO

Tele2 has announced that Harri Koponen is to replace Lars-Johan Jarnheimer as President and CEO of the company from this August. Harri Koponen has a strong industry background from his previous roles as President and CEO at Wataniya Telecom, deputy CEO and president of International Operations at teliasonera, President and CEO at Sonera Corporation and Executive VP and General Manager for Consumer Products North America at Ericsson.  more

Sweden Finishes "4G" Spectrum Auction

Sweden's telecoms regulator, the PTS has announced that its spectrum auction in the 2.6 GHz band has been concluded, after 16 days of bidding and 112 bidding rounds. Five bidders have won licenses for the total amount of SEK2,099,450,000 (US$348 million).  more

Tele2 Ordered to Pay $84 Million to TeliaSonera

Sweden's Supreme Court has refused Tele2 leave to appeal on a long running legal battle with teliasonera - and Tele2 must now pay approximately SEK 500 million (US$84 million) to teliasonera for interconnection charges.  more

Ericsson Wins Swedish HSDPA Contract

Ericsson and Svenska UMTS Nat have signed a contract for a nationwide rollout of HSDPA in Sweden. teliasonera and Tele2 will offer their customers enhanced mobile broadband services with speed up to 7.2 Mbps. The network is already prepared for 14.4 Mbps. The rollout has already started, and before the end of 2007 all the major cities in Sweden will be covered.  more

Tele2 Switching MVNO Traffic from Telenor to NetCom

teliasonera's subsidiary NetCom says that it has signed an agreement with Tele2 to use Netcom's mobile network as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). The agreement implies transferring all Tele2 Norge's traffic from Telenor's network to NetCom's network before April 1, 2008. more

Siemens Provides Core Network Technology for Tele2 in Sweden

Siemens has won a contract from the Swedish mobile operator, Tele2 to upgrade its existing 2G and 3G core networks in Sweden to a combined 2G/3G core network for voice and data. In a framework agreement, Tele2 has commissioned the Siemens Communications Group to install and maintain a split architecture core network. more
