Megafon and Turkcell to be Merged into Single Holding Company

­There is to be further tidying up of the often complex Russian-Nordic telecoms investments, after teliasonera and Altimo agreed to merge their respective direct and indirect interests in Turkcell and Megafon, into a new company. TeliaSonera 3rd-Quarter Profits Up Slighty

­teliasonera has reported that its 3rd-quarter net sales increased by 4.8 percent to SEK 27.1 billion (US$3.9 billion), while net income rose to SEK 5 billion (US$722 million), from SEK 4.8 billion a year ago. EBITDA, excluding non-recurring items, increased 9.1 percent to SEK 9.8 billion (US$1.4 billion) and the margin to 36.1 percent, from 34.7%. The increase in local currencies and excluding acquisitions was 4.3 percent.  more

Samsung to Supply LTE Modems to TeliaSonera from 2010

Court Orders Sale of Turkcell Stake to TeliaSonera for $3.1 Billion

teliasonera has won a legal ruling forcing Turkish holding company, Cukurova to sell its stake in Turkcell Holding to teliasonera for a cash consideration of US$3.1 billion. teliasonera says that it now intends to enforce the award against Cukurova in Turkey. If the shares are not delivered, teliasonera will demand damages from Cukurova in the amount of US$1.8 billion, which is the value for teliasonera of a lost transaction as determined by the arbitration tribunal.  more

TeliaSonera Sees Q2 Revenues Rise by 8.7%

teliasonera has reported an 8.7% increase in net sales to SEK 27.5 billion (US$3.7 billion), while net profit increased to SEK 4.5 billion (US$599 million), compared to SEK 4.13 billion a year ago. Net sales in local currencies and excluding acquisitions decreased 0.7 percent.  more
