KPN returns Telfort frequencies to the Dutch government
Netherlands based KPN is to return some of its 3G radio spectrum to the telecoms regulator following a court ruling earlier this year. The court ruled that KPN subsidiary, telfort had not made full use of its 3G radio spectrum and imposed an ongoing series of fines until the spectrum was used. Handing the spectrum back to the regulator has capped the fines. more

European Court Ruled Dutch Operators Colluded on Sales Commissions
The European Court of Justice has ruled that a single meeting can be used to presume that an illegal cartel exists between companies, and that local regulators are able to apply fines when that occurs. The ruling comes from an incident in 2001, when the five Dutch mobile network operators are accused of colluding to lower commissions paid their retailers. more

Telfort Fined for Missing 3G License Obligations
Dutch mobile network, telfort has been fined EUR5 million for failing to meet its 3G license conditions. In a statement from the Dutch Telecom Agency, it was said that the operator had under-utilised its 3G radio spectrum. more

KPN and Germany's debitel have reached an agreement regarding the acquisition of debitelÃ's Dutch operations for an undisclosed consideration. debitel Nederland is the largest MVNO in the Netherlands. Through the acquisition of debitel Nederland, KPN will take over approximately 300,000 post paid and 230,000 pre paid customers, which are already served via its own network. more
